One of the most important fashions that has wiggled it's way through decades (see what I did there..) is of course the wiggle dress. The whole reason it was called a wiggle dress was because the hem was a lot more narrow than the hips, causing you to wiggle when you walked in it. (You also had to wiggle to get it off too)

It doesn't stop there, the wiggle dress accentuated a woman's best assets, with the flattering silhouette and cut defining the bust, waist, hips and bottom. At the time a lot of women were extremely curvy, with teeny tiny waists and huge hips, a look which I've always admired and loved. So as you can imagine, the wiggle dress was ideal to make them look stylish and make their figures look amazing. 

Celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe were seen wearing the wiggle dress, making it even more popular amongst the women of the fifties. 

Christina Hendricks from Mad Men is always seen in a classic wiggle, which flatters her curvaceous figure. 

The trend of the wiggle dress lives on, and you can still get originals from the 50's on Etsy and eBay. Sometimes they can be a bit pricey with them being vintage, but it would be worth it! There's also a chance of the sizing being a lot different, as a size 12 was about a size 8 in the 50's!

 So if you don't fancy going vintage, I have found some lovely retro looking replicas on ASOS. They can vary in price but these ones are £50. They have a lovely floral pattern, which gives it a true vintage look on a high street price! Florals are also feminine and summery for this season. Personally I would prefer a block colour, but flowers will do!

I got this from my boyfriend for our first anniversary and I always get butterflies whenever I spin it. When a record has a meaning it makes it even more special. It's one of my most treasured possessions.

The Jam - The Butterfly Collector

With over 40 vintage stalls, the theatre was buzzing with an atmosphere from people so passionate about vintage things. From clothes, bags, shoes, jewelry and even old comics and records. There were four floors of vintage stalls, and each floor was extremely busy. 

Here I am now sitting at home and writing this blog-post, admiring what I bought. I thought I'd treat myself AGAIN, but it was worth it! 

I fell in love with a lovely little St Michael jumper, it's only short sleeved so it's perfect for summer considering I live in roll necks most of the time! It's a cream colour so again it's got a summery vibe. 

My second buy was a lovely brown leather bag with a gold clasp, I've been after one for ages and after searching almost every stall I found the perfect one. It's immaculate with a gorgeous suede style interior and two inside pockets. It holds that proper vintage bag look which I love. The bag was from the lovely Beth, who is @bruceysvintage on Instagram, she's also on twitter and Facebook too. Check her out if you love vintage, her stall was amazing and she sells online too! 

Finally, I couldn't resist the gorgeous navy vanity case. It'll come in really handy when travelling, and I've been after one for ages. It's even got a little key and the inside is bright red and so neat.

Today I picked up the most gorgeous pair of vintage Hush Puppies heels for £6! A mod girl can never have too many shoes and in my head I used the ongoing excuse; 'they're a bargain, I'll regret it if I don't.' 

The story began on Blandford Street in Sunderland, in one of the charity shops the whole of the upstairs is pure vintage. From crockery, vinyl, clothes, shoes and even old fashioned cameras, it's all got a story behind it waiting to be told.
 

You can't go wrong with a little pair of black shoes, especially vintage! I'm planning to wear them with a pencil skirt and polo, or even a little dress. The heel is very practical too which is a bonus, I can't wait to give them their debut! 

 

Today after work I was having a browse round the town, intending to buy birthday presents for family. Instead I found myself browsing the Ann Summers sale, and fell in love with the most beautiful low line bra. Being a vintage lover I really adore that pin-up style look, and after looking on the internet for ages I still couldn't find what I was looking for. Today I found the bra of my dreams, a gorgeous silk and lace long line which is so comfortable and flattering.
